Personality
Kageyama bears the nickname "King of the Court", something that both pains him but can be seen as a good thing as well.
At first glance, Kageyama gives off a sullen air that is tinged with quite a bit of arrogance. His default expression doesn't make him easy to approach since he rarely smiles or shows much of anything other than a blank or frowning face. Even Hinata at the beginning of the series is at first intimidated by his future teammates expression, arrogance in full display when Kageyama asks the other young man what he had been doing for three years after handing a devastating loss to the other.
A bad and quick temper is another very noticeable trait of his. With his perfectionist streak, if anyone messes up, especially Hinata, Kageyama is quick to snap and demand they do better. Though later in the series it is not as super explosive, it still pops up at times since he doesn't have the best track record of properly expressing his emotions.
Which leads into his actually being rather sensitive to what others think of him. Since his rejection by his middle school team for being too egocentric, Kageyama is afraid of it happening again, though he doesn't talk about it till Tsukishima calls him out on it. Still, he can seem more like a kid with his outbursts than the teenager in high school he is supposed to be.
Kageyama does have some positive sides to him. He is extremally passionate about volleyball, and is outwardly rather excited when they make good plays. The most excitement is displayed when Hinata and him make a really good play, and some of the few times these two really get along before potential bickering starts again. He always wants to do his best, and is very much an asset to his team with his skills as a Setter.
Overall, joining Karasuno has done him some good. Kageyama has learned that teamwork is about trusting your team, and working with them to make sure that all of his sets work with whoever he is setting to, not just Hinata. Despite hating the nickname of "King of the Court", with how much growth he's done since joining Karasuno and being around people who will not let him call all the shots, he's become a different King among crows.
Appearance
Kageyama's height and impressively sharp glare are said to be his most prominent physical features and source of attraction to several female classmates. He is of a lean but muscular build. He often emits an intimidating aura, which is heightened by the almost permanent scowl on his face. His black hair is cropped short, with a fringe that hangs just above his dark blue eyes. His typical attire consists of either his school uniform or practice clothes.
In VR, he will likely continue to wear what is comfortable

Stamina | 5/5 |
Game Sense | 5/5 |
Technique | 5/5 |
Speed | 4/5 |
- Pinpoint Accuracy - Kageyama's most prominent and praised skill is his ability to accurately determine a ball's trajectory and tossing it to the exact point. Combined with the fact that he can set from any angle at incredible speeds, this makes his sets almost impossible for most of his opponents to predict and counter.
- Minus-Tempo Quick Strike: Also known as the "God-Fast Spike", "Freak-Quick" or the "Oddball Combo", this is an offensive maneuver developed by Kageyama and Hinata during their three-on-three match against Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, and Daichi. It combines Kageyama's setting talents with Hinata's speed, agility, and extraordinary jumping power.
- King's Toss: His best set is known as the "King's Toss," which causes the ball to go straight with a lot of force past through the spiker's point of impact.
- Jump Serve: Kageyama has a powerful jump serve that his opponents are wary of.
- Dump Set: Kageyama often utilizes dump sets and rarely gets blocked. He's adept at finding the perfect moments to perform a dump set, often surprising both his opponents (such as Oikawa) and his teammates.
- Two-setter Attack: Kageyama also has a sharp straight spike, which allows him to act as an extra wing spiker on the right side when Sugawara is used as a setter.
- One Person Time Difference Attack: Kageyama has shown the ability to match his spikers to perform a One Person Time Difference Attack.
- Glance feint: A technique he learned from watching Kenma Kozume, Kageyama will look to one side of the court in order to trick opposing blockers that he will set in one direction before setting in the opposite direction. Because this is a move he very rarely uses, it is a very successful when implemented.
